Basketball Game Preview: Goodrich Hornets vs. Leggett Pirates

The Goodrich Hornets will square off against the Leggett Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Goodrich is coming into the matchup on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight wins. They came out on top against Burkeville by a score of 36-26 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Leggett hadn't done well against Spurger recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Leggett blew past Spurger 53-27. Leggett pushed the score to 43-15 by the end of the third, a deficit Spurger cut but never quite recovered from.

Leggett's win came from a few key players Goodrich will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tamera Henderson, who posted 18 points along with five steals and four blocks. That's the most steals she has posted since back in January of 2024. Bianca Perkins was another key player, putting up 20 points along with eight assists and five boards.

Leggett smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Leggett is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.1 points per game. As for Goodrich, their victory bumped their record up to 8-14.
