Baseball Recap: Bolton Takes a Loss

Bolton had lost 14 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-11 to make it 15. They came up short against Fayette Ware, falling 19-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Bolton of the 7-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Bolton got a good showing from Ibrahim Thiaw, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

As for Fayette Ware, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-8. That looming 19-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

On Fayette Ware's side, Angel Hernandez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Hernandez a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Cooper Dennie was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jared Stewart, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Bolton will challenge Memphis Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season. As for Fayette Ware, they will take on Millington Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
