Preview: Crosstown Explorers vs. Lakeland Preparatory Lions
The Crosstown Explorers will head out on the road to square off against the Lakeland Preparatory Lions at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Crosstown is no doubt hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Monday, Crosstown had to suffer through a rough 59-27 loss at the hands of the Bears.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Lakeland Preparatory, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-54 loss to the phoenix on Friday. Lakeland Preparatory has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Lakeland Preparatory saw an underclassman step up: Ryan Pitts scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pitts has scored all season. Cooper Gallagher was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Crosstown has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Lakeland Preparatory, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.
Crosstown was able to grind out a solid win over the Lions when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 55-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Crosstown since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
