Basketball Recap: Monticello Comes Up Short

Monticello fought the good fight in their overtime match against Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 56-49 to the Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin Blue Devils. While losing is never fun, the Sages can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 249th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 123rd).

Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chaz Dubois, who posted 16 points along with seven boards and three steals. What's more, Dubois posted two blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Micah Stanford was another key player, on his way to 17 points.

Monticello's defeat dropped their record down to 16-13. As for Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, their win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 30-1.

Monticello does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, they will face off against Watseka at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.8 points per game this season.
