It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Avon ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mayfield Wildcats, sneaking past 2-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Avon's win bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Mayfield, they moved to 4-4 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Avon will host Midview at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Middies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.88 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mayfield, they will take on Kenston at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games the Bombers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
