Baseball Recap: Heritage Academy Finds Home Field Redemption Against ALA - Anthem South

There's no place like home for Heritage Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the ALA - Anthem South Titans a 12-0 shutout on Thursday.

Isaias Ruiz and Paul (PJ) Soltero made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Ruiz pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Soltero tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Heritage Academy's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 3-8-1 when he doesn't). At the plate, Ruiz went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBI, while Soltero got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Soltero has hit this season.

In other batting news, Felix Melero Martinez was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Brenden Whetten was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Heritage Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Heritage Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-9-1. As for ALA - Anthem South, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heritage Academy will face off against Mohave Accelerated at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for ALA - Anthem South, they will head out to face off against Phoenix Country Day at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
