Baseball Recap: Teton Comes Up Short

Teton had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-14 to make it four. They lost 12-6 to the South Fremont Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 last Tuesday.

Luke Nelson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

As for South Fremont, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.

On South Fremont's side, Jordan Hammond made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Hammond has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Tayson Farley and Hudson Miller did most of the damage at the plate: Farley went 3-for-5 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base, while Miller went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that Miller has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Colter Hansen, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Coming up, Teton will face off against West Jefferson at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. South Fremont does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
