Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Martin County walked away with it. They put the hurt on the North Lenoir Hawks with a sharp 86-64 win on Tuesday. The Gators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

Martin County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kamarion Larry out in front who on his way to 24 points and six boards. Those 24 points gave Larry a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kwahli Basnight, who shot 4-for-5 from deep and dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds.

Martin County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in 12 consecutive matches.

Martin County pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points over those games. As for North Lenoir, their loss dropped their record down to 10-16.

Coming up, Martin County will square off against Whiteville on Friday. Whiteville will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Martin County surely won't give up without a fight. As for North Lenoir, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 86-64 defeat against Riverside-Martin on the 25th.
