Basketball Recap: Mccook Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

McCook extended their winning streak to four on Saturday, bumping them up to 12-3. They strolled past the Holdrege Dusters with points to spare, taking the game 77-61. This was payback for the Bison, who suffered a 90-74 loss the last time these two teams met.

McCook's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tripp Raile, who went 6-for-13 en route to 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists. Raile is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 43% in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brody Graham, who shot 67% from the field to rack up 16 points.

As for Holdrege, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-11. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while McCook is ranked 47th).

When it comes to explaining why Holdrege lost, don't look at Cameron Waldo. Despite the final result, he went 7-for-12 on his way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Johnson, who posted six points along with ten boards and six assists.

Coming up, McCook will face off against Minden at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bison will be up against the Whippets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 57.93 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Holdrege, they will take on Cozad in a tournament on Tuesday. The Dusters will need to watch out since the Haymakers have now posted at least 55 points in their last ten games.
