Softball Game Preview: Gadsden City Titans vs. Hokes Bluff Eagles

The Gadsden City Titans are taking a road trip to face off against the Hokes Bluff Eagles at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Gadsden City will be strutting in after a win while Hokes Bluff will be coming in after a loss.

Gadsden City was handed a eight-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They skirted past Ragland 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Titans have posted since February 24th.

Raina Underwood made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That one hit allowed gave her a new career-low. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kiera Hampton, who fired off two home runs, three RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. Naomi Wise was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Gadsden City lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Hokes Bluff was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Etowah.

Rylee Hill was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Gadsden City's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-14. As for Hokes Bluff, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.

Gadsden City couldn't quite get it done against Hokes Bluff in their previous meeting back in February as they fell 12-7. Can Gadsden City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
