Baseball Recap: Hope Blue Wave vs. North Smithfield Northmen
Hope extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping them down to 3-12. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the North Smithfield Northmen. If the Blue Wave were looking for revenge after losing 8-1 to the Northmen when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Chris Bernard put in work no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Bryan Abreu made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
