Volleyball Recap: Pine City Comes Up Short on the Road Against Rush City

Pine City had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rush City Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Dragons of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Pine City started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-14, 25-21, 25-20.

Taylor Tollefson paced Pine City's offense, picking up ten kills. Tollefson got some help from Taylar Hejny and her 17 assists. Ali Tollefson controlled things from the service line, finishing with seven aces.

Rush City's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

Looking ahead, Pine City will welcome Milaca at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rush City, they are taking a road trip to square off against North Branch at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
