Preview: Ballou Knights vs. Bell Griffins
The Ballou Knights will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Bell Griffins at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in District of Columbia (Ballou is ranked 14th, while Bell is ranked 33rd).
Ballou scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They blew past Woodson 71-47. Ballou has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 23 points or more this season.
Ballou's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lorenzo Martin led the charge by scoring 14 points. Another player making a difference was Samaud Benton-McDonald, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Bell's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 88-22 loss at the hands of Jackson-Reed. Bell has not had much luck with Jackson-Reed recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
The victory got Ballou back to even at 9-9. As for Bell, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
Ballou was able to grind out a solid win over Bell when the teams last played back in December of 2022, winning 56-45. Will Ballou repeat their success, or does Bell have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
