Baseball Game Preview: Northern Potter Panthers vs. Smethport Hubbers

Northern Potter is on an eight-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Smethport a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Wednesday. The Northern Potter Panthers will be playing at home against the Smethport Hubbers at 4:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Northern Potter fell victim to Port Allegany and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 6-0 to the Gators. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Smethport scored first but ultimately less than Coudersport in their game on Monday. They came up short against the Falcons, falling 16-5.

Smethport saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach Hungiville, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. Owen Rounsville was another, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Smethport's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Northern Potter, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

Northern Potter might still be hurting after the 23-9 defeat they got from Smethport in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
