With a playoff game on the line, Riverview Sarasota rose to the challenge on Friday. They secured a 35-30 W over the Hurricanes.
Riverview Sarasota relied on the efforts of Braxton Thomas, who rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, and Dj Johnson, who rushed for 141 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Venice stacked a eighth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 56-14 victory over Immokalee at home. With Venice ahead 49-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Jadyn Glasser looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 222 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. Jamarice Wilder also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Riverview Sarasota's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Venice, their victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2.
Riverview Sarasota might still be hurting after the 35-14 defeat they got from Venice when the teams last played back in September. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Venice's Wilder, who rushed for 85 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries.
