The General McLane Lancers are taking a road trip to challenge the Meadville Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
General McLane came out on top against North East on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Lancers blew past the Grape Pickers 10-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lancers.
Makayla Rapela was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Avery Lorah was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
General McLane was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North East only posted a batting average of .241.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Meadville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 10-7 win over Titusville on Monday.
Lila Kightlinger made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.
In other batting news, Teagan Reichel and Addyson Kregel did most of the damage at the plate: Reichel went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles, while Kregel went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kendall Mealy, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and two doubles.
Meadville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for General McLane, their record now sits at 5-12-1.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. General McLane hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Meadville struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
General McLane suffered a grim 12-3 defeat to Meadville in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
