West took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They claimed a resounding 50-23 win over the Timpview Thunderbirds. The Panthers pushed the score to 37-17 by the end of the third, a deficit the Thunderbirds had little chance of recovering from.
Louie Hamilton had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 328 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Kamden Lopati also helped with two touchdowns in total.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: West was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 452 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 158 rushing yards in 13 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Despite the defeat, Timpview saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Duncan Strong picked up a sack and made 15 total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.
West has already played their next contest, a 48-0 victory against Timpanogos on the 22nd. As for Timpview, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 48-25 loss against American Fork on the 22nd.
