Faith Christian is 2-8 against Halifax Academy since March of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Faith Christian turned things around against Harrells Christian Academy on Friday. They put the hurt on the Crusaders with a sharp 12-2 victory. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Payton Whitley, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Kate Camp, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
Whitley wasn't the only one making solid contact: Faith Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The Patriots are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Halifax Academy's hitters rose to the challenge against a Rams pitching crew that boasted an average of only three runs allowed on Friday. The Vikings blew past Ridgecroft 11-1. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won nine in a row.
Payton Odom was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. She also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Karson Ricks was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4. Emma Inscoe was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Faith Christian's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-8. As for Halifax Academy, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 6-8-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Faith Christian has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Halifax Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
