Basketball Recap: New Braunfels Comes Up Short

New Braunfels was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 57-40 to the Tivy Antlers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Unicorns this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 49-43 back in December of 2024.

Defeat or not, New Braunfels got some senior leadership from Alyana Mcgarity and Yaniska Mestre. Mcgarity went 5 for 10 on her way to 17 points and five rebounds, while Mestre posted 11 points and three steals.

New Braunfels now has a losing record at 15-16. As for Tivy, their win bumped their record up to 16-10.

New Braunfels has already played their next matchup (against Veterans Memorial), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Tivy will host Wagner at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wagner will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something Tivy surely won't give up without a fight.
