Softball Recap: Manchester West Comes Up Short

Manchester West extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-3 in the process. They came up short against the Milford Spartans, falling 25-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Knights of the 12-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2019.

As for Milford, their record now sits at 6-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

For Milford's part, Livi Mazzeo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Mazzeo was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Arabelle Danforth, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five runs, and three RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.4 runs per game. Sophie Decoteau was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manchester West will square off against Hollis-Brookline at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Milford, they will face off against Souhegan at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sabers have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
