Basketball Game Preview: Armstrong River Hawks vs. Kiski Area Cavaliers

The Armstrong River Hawks will take on the Kiski Area Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Armstrong's tournament run continued when they took on Southern on Saturday. Armstrong fell just short of Southern by a score of 57-55. While losing is never fun, the River Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 501st in Pennsylvania, while the Rams are ranked 165th in Maryland).

Meanwhile, Kiski Area was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 63-57 heartbreaker at the hands of Mohawk Area.

Kiski Area's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Armstrong, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-6.

Everything went Armstrong's way against Kiski Area in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, as Armstrong made off with a 58-37 victory. Does Armstrong have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kiski Area turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
