Baseball Game Preview: Farmville Central Jaguars vs. North Pitt Panthers

For the second straight game, Farmville Central will face off against North Pitt. The Jaguars will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Farmville Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

It was a proper cat-fight when Farmville Central duked it out with North Pitt on Tuesday. The Jaguars were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Panthers. The victory continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Trey Williford was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). He is becoming a predictor of Farmville Central's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is 7-2 (and 4-6-1 when he doesn't). Williford was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joe May, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Thomas Mosley, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI.

Farmville Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Pitt only posted an OBP of .176.

Farmville Central's win bumped their record up to 11-8-1. As for North Pitt, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-14.
