Basketball Recap: Ponder Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

After only 24 points in their last game, Ponder made sure to put some points up on the board against Callisburg on Tuesday. The Ponder Lions walked away with a 57-49 win over the Callisburg Wildcats. The Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildcats, too.

Callisburg's loss came despite strong showings from Jacob Splawn and Caden Whittington. Splawn posted 11 points and seven steals, while Whittington had eight points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Splawn a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jakob Moore, who earned 11 points.

Ponder is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 14-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.1 points per game. As for Callisburg, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Ponder Lions challenge the Pilot Point Bearcats at 7:45 p.m. on January 14th. As for Callisburg, they will head out to challenge Boyd at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Boyd is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54 points per game this season.
