Baseball Game Preview: Canterbury Cougars vs. Cooper City Cowboys

The Canterbury Cougars will head out to square off against the Cooper City Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Canterbury 3.5, Cooper City 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Canterbury took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over Miami Beach. The win was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cooper City). They put the hurt on South Broward with a sharp 16-6 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Cowboys in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.

Cooper City got a massive performance out of Robert Scott Jr., who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Those three hits gave Scott Jr. a new career-high. Anthony Martinez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Cooper City pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Canterbury, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Canterbury was able to grind out a solid victory over Cooper City in their previous meeting back in March of 2018, winning 8-3. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Cowboys have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
