Baseball Game Preview: St. Mary Vikings vs. McCracken County Mustangs

St. Mary is 0-10 against McCracken County since May of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Vikings will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (St. Mary 2.7, McCracken County 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

St. Mary's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Saturday's struggle, when Paducah Tilghman hitters got past them. The Vikings fell just short of the Blue Tornado by a score of 10-9 on Saturday.

Luke Sims made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, McCracken County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Tigers.

McCracken County pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for St. Mary, their loss dropped their record down to 15-5.
