Recap: Portledge Panthers vs. Luther Cougars
Even though the Luther Cougars scored an imposing 58 points on Saturday, the Portledge Panthers still came out on top. Portledge took their matchup against Luther 70-58. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Portledge.
Despite the loss, Luther had strong showings from Gavin Hugine, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds, and Tristan Elcock, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Trail, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Portledge's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Luther, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.
Portledge won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against St. Anthony's at 5:15 p.m. on January 21st. St. Anthony's is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.5 points per game. As for Luther, they will be playing at home against Stony Brook at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
