Basketball Recap: Madelyn Seifert's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Veritas Christian Academy over Calvary Christian

Veritas Christian Academy fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Calvary Christian on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Calvary Christian Lions by a score of 37-34. Veritas Christian Academy was not able to make up for their defeat to Calvary Christian from their previous meeting back in February of 2023.

Veritas Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madelyn Seifert, who posted 14 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Seifert is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last three games she's played. Amya Cuddon was another key player, putting up 14 points along with eight boards and six steals.

Veritas Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Calvary Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season.

Coming up, Veritas Christian Academy will challenge Vernon at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Calvary Christian, they will take on Dunellen at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Calvary Christian's defense has only allowed 22.8 points per game this season, so Dunellen's offense will have their work cut out for them.
