Softball Recap: Watertown Gets the Win

While Watertown's win against Trousdale County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Purple Tigers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Yellowjackets 5-4. The Purple Tigers haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Kayla McGuire was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning two RBI and one run.

McGuire wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Lester, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double. Alyssa Wood was another, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Watertown's victory bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Trousdale County, they dropped their record down to 12-7-1 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

As of now, neither Watertown nor the Yellowjackets have any future games scheduled.
