Recap: Montgomery Tigers vs. Westminster Christian Academy
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Mary, The Montgomery Tigers were happy to have found some success on Friday. They put the hurt on Westminster Christian Academy with a sharp 41-18 victory. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Montgomery's zero-point performance the matchup before.
Jackson Nelson went supernova for Montgomery, rushing for 275 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Nelson's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards. Jacorian Shepherd was another key contributor, rushing for 82 yards and three touchdowns.
Westminster Christian Academy's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being David Beazley, who picked up 161 receiving yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Dane Fontnote, who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown.
Montgomery has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Westminster Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Montgomery will head out on the road to face off against Logansport on Thursday. Logansport will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. Westminster Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
