Basketball Recap: Southaven Takes a Loss

Southaven was the 68-61 winner over Biggersville when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Southaven Chargers fell 61-54 to the Biggersville Lions on Friday. The Chargers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Southaven lost, don't look at Jayven Welch. Despite the final result, he posted 15 points. Caden Johnson was another key player, putting up eight points.

Even though they lost, Southaven smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive games.

Southaven now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Biggersville, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-4.

Southaven wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 62-24 win against Ashland on the 28th. As for Biggersville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-52 defeat against Cordova on the 28th.
