Softball Game Preview: Berea Pirates vs. Lincoln County Patriots

Berea is 0-4 against Lincoln County since March of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Pirates will host the Patriots at 5:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.

Two weeks ago, Berea got the win against Burgin by a conclusive 18-2. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won four games by 15 runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Lincoln County can bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Danville Christian Academy a 7-0 shutout. The Patriots not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 24th.

Not much got past Trinity Price, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep Danville Christian Academy off the board. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Price.

At the plate, Raelee Lawson was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Halle Siler, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Berea now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Lincoln County, their victory bumped their record up to 5-14.

Berea suffered a grim 12-6 defeat to Lincoln County in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
