Basketball Game Preview: Belle Plaine Dragons vs. Conway Springs Cardinals

Belle Plaine is 2-8 against Conway Springs since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Belle Plaine Dragons will venture away from home to face off against the Conway Springs Cardinals at 6:00 p.m.

Belle Plaine is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were beaten by Cheney 57-25. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 257th, while the Cardinals are ranked 83rd).

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Conway Springs on Tuesday. They came out on top against Chaparral by a score of 39-27. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Roadrunners: they've now won three in a row.

Belle Plaine better keep an eye on Macie Hartman. She was instrumental in Conway Springs' win, going 5-for-10 to rack up 11 points in addition to six boards and five steals. That's the most steals Hartman has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sadie Koester, who put up eight points and three steals.

Conway Springs' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. As for Belle Plaine, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Things could have been worse for Belle Plaine, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 47-32 loss to Conway Springs in their previous meeting back in January. Can Belle Plaine avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
