Baseball Game Preview: Catholic Bears vs. Presbyterian Christian Bobcats

The Catholic Bears will be taking part in a tournament against the Presbyterian Christian Bobcats at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Catholic's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Presbyterian Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Friday, Catholic earned a 6-1 victory over George County. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

Andrew Clapinski made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Ruckert, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Lewis, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Presbyterian Christian came up short against St. Martin on Friday and fell 6-2. The Bobcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Presbyterian Christian also got a good showing from Cash James, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. James has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bankston Walters was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

Catholic's record now sits at 11-3. As for Presbyterian Christian, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
