Football Game Preview: Lecanto Panthers vs. Florida State University High School Seminoles

Lecanto has won three straight games at home, while Florida State University High School has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Panthers will welcome the Seminoles at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Lecanto's offense will try to repeat the strong performance it gave on Thursday, when they got past Weeki Wachee's usually-dominant defense. The Panthers put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 32-7 win. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won five in a row.

A big part of Lecanto's win came down to the chemistry between Peyton Dison and her top target Brooke Dison. Peyton threw for 144 yards and three touchdowns while Brooke picked up 54 receiving yards and a pair of scores. That's the most passing yards Peyton has posted since back in April of 2024. Kyleigh Spradley got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Lecanto didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Trinity Converse and Spradley. Converse has become a key player for Lecanto: the team is undefeated when she posts at least one interception, but 3-7 otherwise. Spradley got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Florida State University High School won against FAMU DRS last Thursday with 33 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Seminoles were the clear victors by a 33-7 margin over Sandalwood. Considering the Seminoles have won seven matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Lecanto's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Florida State University High School, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
