Volleyball Recap: American Fork Falls Short Against Ranked Skyridge

American Fork faced Skyridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Cavemen took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons. The Cavemen were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

American Fork started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 14-25, 26-24, 25-17, 25-23.

Despite the loss, American Fork had strong showings from Evan Olmstead, who had 21 digs and two aces, and Jackson Mecham, who had eight digs and two aces. Olmstead has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 12 times he's played. Christian Dowse also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

American Fork has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Skyridge, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-10.

American Fork wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Pleasant Grove on the 15th. As for Skyridge, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Lehi on the 15th.
