Soccer Game Preview: Independence vs. Frisco

The Independence Knights will square off against the Frisco Raccoons at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Independence's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for seven straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Independence turned things around against Liberty on Tuesday. They and the Redhawks finished up their game with a 1-1 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked the Knights' first draw of the season.

Meanwhile, Frisco managed to keep up with Heritage until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Frisco lost 3-0 to Heritage. While losing is never fun, the Raccoons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 344th, while the Coyotes are ranked 155th).

Independence's draw gives them a new season record of 0-6-1. As for Frisco, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8-1 record this season.

Independence came up short against Frisco in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, falling 5-3. Can Independence avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
