Softball Recap: Lyons Comes Up Short

The Lyons Lions came up short against the Naperville Central Redhawks on Thursday and fell 7-4.

Maddy Pieroni made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Madeline Luciano, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Lyons' defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Naperville Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lyons will face off against Hinsdale South at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Naperville Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Charles East at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Fighting Saints' pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so the Redhawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
