Softball Recap: Browne Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Browne won the last time they faced South Mountain and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Bruins were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Jaguars. The result was nothing new for the Bruins, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Shyla Vasquez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple and two RBI.

In other batting news, Ariza Martinez was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Dreamera Sprague was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.

Browne's victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for South Mountain, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.

Browne will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Jaguars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
