Volleyball Game Preview: Oakmont Vikings vs. Mira Loma Matadors

The Oakmont Vikings will challenge the Mira Loma Matadors at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Oakmont proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by three) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Wheatland 3-2.

Oakmont was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-18, 15-8.

Meanwhile, Mira Loma was able to grind out a solid win over Center on Monday, taking the game 3-1.

The victory didn't come easy: Center scored at least 18 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 26-24, 17-25, 25-20.

The win got Oakmont back to even at 10-10. As for Mira Loma, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's match: Oakmont has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Mira Loma struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.3 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Oakmont took their win against Mira Loma in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Matadors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
