Maria Young spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 19 consecutive appearances.

Avon's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Gilmour Academy, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-4.
