Basketball Recap: Jaylon Davis Key Part of a Team Effort in Gryphons Win

Academy for Classical Education hadn't done well against Crawford County recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Academy for Classical Education Gryphons had just enough and edged the Crawford County Eagles out 54-52. This was payback for the Gryphons, who suffered a 63-37 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Academy for Classical Education's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaylon Davis, who went 6 of 7 on his way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Perry, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.

Despite the loss, Crawford County still got an impressive performance from Tyler Smith, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 boards. Those 22 points gave Smith a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jamahl Willis, who had seven points.

Academy for Classical Education is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
