Basketball Recap: Union Pines Falls to Jack Britt in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Union Pines kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell 36-29 to the Jack Britt Buccaneers. The Vikings were not able to make up for their defeat to the Buccaneers from their previous meeting back in November of 2022.

Union Pines' loss came despite strong showings from Savannah McCaskill and Rachel Kachmar. McCaskill posted five points and ten boards, while Kachmar put up eight points and five rebounds.

Leading Jack Britt to victory were Azaria Burks and Caliyah Nurse. Burks dropped a double-double with 13 points and 15 boards, while Nurse had ten points and three steals. What's more, Nurse posted four rebounds, the most she's had since back in January.

Jack Britt pushed their record up to 1-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Union Pines didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-29 win against Gray's Creek on the 19th. As for Jack Britt, they have also already played their next matchup, a 54-35 loss against New Hanover on the 24th.
