Recap: Amite County Trojans vs. Wilkinson County Wildcats
Even though The Amite County Trojans have not done well against the Wilkinson County Wildcats recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Amite County simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Wilkinson County 48-0 at home. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Amite County's 12-point performance the contest before.
Among those leading the charge was Markell Smith, who rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also threw for 37 yards and a touchdown. Calvin Thompson Jr. was another key contributor, rushing for 78 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Amite County's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Wilkinson County, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7.
Amite County will face off against West Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Lincoln is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Wilkinson County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bogue Chitto at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
