Baseball Recap: Port Jervis Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Port Jervis took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Chester, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Raiders had just enough and edged out the Hambletonians 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Raiders have posted since April 11th.

The team relied heavily on Joseph Olenick, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kevin Mesnick, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.

Port Jervis pushed their record up to 5-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Chester, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-5 record.

Coincidentally, Port Jervis and Chester will both be playing Sullivan West the next time they take the field. The Raiders will head out to face the Bulldogs at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, while the Hambletonians will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
