League recap: Gutierrez throws longest pass in league this season for Sierra

Fernando Gutierrez and William Nelson provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Sand Creek. The connection was good for 75 yards, the longest such play in 3A Southern this season.

Sierra lost to the Scorpions 68-26 last week, the largest margin of any game. Gutierrez was a bright spot for the Stallions, as he threw for 305 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 32 yards in the defeat.

Sierra's dynamic duo of Gutierrez and Nelson proved tough for Sand Creek to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Darrion Pyos helped Sierra's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 106 yards.

Dean Huffman's team's dynamic duo of Gutierrez and Nelson proved to be unstoppable against Rod Baker's team, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

JOHNSON ANDREW was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 146 yards on 25 carries as Harrison lost to the Scorpions. GRAVES DEMETRIUS also contributed to the rushing game with 35 yards on the ground.

He was 16-23 with 1 interceptions.

Nelson was the best wideout in the league this week as Sierra lost to Sand Creek. Nelson tallied 4 receptions for 115 yards.

Gutierrez put up the best numbers in passing as the Stallions fell to the Scorpions.

Pueblo Central's Zach Andrews and Michael Ranson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 3A Southern in both passing and receiving yards. Andrews has thrown for 540 yards this season, while Ranson has 16 catches for 208 yards. Marco Perez from Pueblo East leads the league in rushing with 367 yards.

The Classical Academy led the league in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on Mitchell. Jantzen Ryals threw for 104 yards and 2 touchdowns during the win.
