Basketball Game Preview: St. Joseph Academy Crusaders vs. Grossmont Foothillers

Having just played yesterday, the St. Joseph Academy Crusaders will head out on the road to face off against the Grossmont Foothillers at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Joseph Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.1 points per game this season.

St. Joseph Academy's tournament run continued when they took on West Hills on Friday. St. Joseph Academy opened the new year with a less-than-successful 68-60 loss to West Hills.

Despite the defeat, St. Joseph Academy had strong showings from Justice Ahiafor, who posted 23 points, and Brewster Gale, who had 17 points. Ahiafor's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mathew Adams, who put up six points.

Meanwhile, Grossmont came up short against Pacific Ridge on Friday and fell 57-45. While losing is never fun, the Foothillers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1201st, while the Firebirds are ranked 346th).

St. Joseph Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Grossmont, they dropped their record down to 3-13 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Everything went St. Joseph Academy's way against Grossmont in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, as St. Joseph Academy made off with a 66-40 win. Will St. Joseph Academy repeat their success, or does Grossmont have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
