Basketball Recap: Evans Takes a Loss

Evans played a tough game on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Bradwell Institute Tigers, falling 66-40. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while the Tigers are ranked 57th).

Bradwell Institute found their leader in sophomore Zi`On Thomas, who went 10-for-14 to rack up 20 points. Thomas also set a new season-high mark in shooting accuracy with 71%. Another player making a difference was Jaylin Sweat, who went 6-for-8 en route to 13 points and eight rebounds.

Evans' defeat dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Bradwell Institute, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

Evans does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bradwell Institute, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers take on the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lakeside knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Bradwell Institute likes a good challenge.
