Football Recap: Riverdale Skates Past Columbia Central with Ease

Riverdale extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 4-2. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 41-7 win over the Columbia Central Lions. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-7.

A big part of Riverdale's victory came down to the chemistry between Gavin Hampton and his top target Corben Reynolds. Hampton threw for 377 yards and four TDs while completing 73.9% of his passes while Reynolds picked up 150 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Hampton's passing game has become a key predictor of Riverdale's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.

As for Columbia Central, they now have a losing record of 2-3. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 140th, while Riverdale is ranked 36th).

Despite the loss, Columbia Central still got an impressive performance from Dallas King, who picked up 92 receiving yards and one touchdown. King's longest reception was for an incredible 73 yards.

Riverdale wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 31-13 win against Smyrna on the 2nd. As for Columbia Central, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-0 victory against Franklin County on the 3rd.
