Basketball Recap: Wakefield Takes a Loss

Wakefield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Rural Vista [Hope/White City] Heat, falling 59-31. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Heat this season, with their most recent loss being a 61-29 defeat last Tuesday.

Wakefield lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Kingsley Smith, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 22 boards. Those 22 rebounds gave him a new career-high. Bradyn Moenning was another key player, en route to 12 points.

Rural Vista [Hope/White City] can attribute much of their success to Tucker Mein, who to rack up 12 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Parker, who posted six points and three blocks.

Wakefield's loss dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Rural Vista [Hope/White City], they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Wakefield has already played their next contest, a 52-23 victory against Flint Hills Christian on the 18th. As for Rural Vista [Hope/White City], they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-28 win against Goessel on the 20th.
