Recap: Cottondale Hornets vs. Malone Tigers

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Marianna, the Cottondale Hornets were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 66-58 victory over Malone. Given Cottondale's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Malone is ranked 555th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cottondale's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cameron Odom led the charge by scoring 18 points. Another player making a difference was Kee'shan Hudson, who scored 14 points.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jackson Welch, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamerious Sims, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and five steals.

Cottondale has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Malone, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season.

Cottondale will face off against Sneads at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cottondale is coming into the matchup with four straight wins on the road, meaning Sneads will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. Malone does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
